Kido Rules and Information

Post by Shiro-Sama on Mon Oct 27, 2008 9:34 am

Kido (Also known as Demon Arts) is the Shinigami equivilent of Magic. Kido uses Reiatsu from the body to release a spell, which effects are classified into three Key groups. Hado, Bakudo, and Chido. (Or, Destruction, Binding, and Healing Arts.) To perform a Kido Spell, a Shinigami must recite an incantation, and state the name and number of a spell. Experienced Shinigami may skip the incantation, albeit at reduced power, or combine spells, though requiring saying both incantations.

Kido is numbered 1-99 for each type, with typically the higher the number, the more difficult, powerful, and costing the spell is. Every Kido Spell utilizes Reiatsu to function, which is used from the body of the caster. Because of this, using many spells will drain the body of their Spiritual Pressure. Shinigami are capable of using all three forms of Kido, however, are capable of master only one.

Hado - Destruction Arts
The most commonly known form of Spells, Destruction spells typically have a single purpose. Offense. Because of this, most of their spells are simple and straight forward, launching powerful kido strikes against an opponent. Very few have other effects. Hado is the first of the arts taught, with their success with it often determining if they will learn the other arts. Hado typically requires lesser control then the other two arts, making it the easiest for the majority of Soul Reapers to learn.

Spell: #1 Shō (Thrust)
Effect: Releases a wave of force, which pushes the target away from the caster. This used more as a way of keeping an enemy away then damaging them.
Incantation: "Throw them away like the dogs they are!"
Reiatsu Cost: 10

Spell: #4 Byakurai (White Lightning)
Effect: This spell ires a concentrated bolt of lightning from the caster's forefinger, piercing an enemy like a bullet. This technique is fast, but the actual blow is small, and because of this, is only useful on vitals.
Incantation: "Let the Tempest rain down upon those who challenge the storm!"
Reiatsu Cost: 10

Spell: #31 Shakkahō (Shot of Red Fire)
Effect: Launches ball of red energy at a target, which explodes on target, burning an enemy. If used improperly, it will cause the sphere to explode in the user's hand before firing.
Incantation: "Ye lord! Mask of blood and flesh, all creation, flutter of wings, ye who bares the name of Man! Inferno and pandemonium, the sea barrier surges, march on to the south!"
Reiatsu Cost: 20

Spell: #33 Sōkatsui (Blue Fire Crash Down)
Effect:Fires a burst of blue spiritual energy at a target in a similar manner to 31, but over a wider area and with more power. However, because it is less concentrated, the technique has a shorter range.
Incantation: "Ye lord! Mask of flesh and bone, flutter of wings, ye who bares the name of Man! Truth and temperance, upon this sinless wall of dreams unleash but slightly the wrath of your claws."
Reiatsu Cost: 20

Spell: #54. Haien (Abolishing Flames)
Fires a blast of purple spiritual energy that will incinerate a target completely when it makes contact. This technique is similar to Shakkaho, however, at a much higher power, and far more dangerous.
Incantation: "Smite thee now with fierce might! Show them the rage of those of above. Silence this abomination!"
Reiatsu Cost: 30

Spell: #58 Tenran (Orchid Sky)
Effect: Create an expanding tornado-like blast which is fired towards the target. The further away the target is, the larger the attack becomes, but also less concentrated. Because of this, it has less power, but is able to strike enemies more easily.
Incantation: "Revolve the spinning blade. Slice through their skin! Let loose a fierce maelstrom upon their soul!
Reiatsu Cost: 30

Spell: #63 Raikōhō (Thunder Roar Canon)
Effect: Fires a massive wave of yellow energy at a target, similar to Blue Fire Crash down, but with greater ferocity and a much higher blast radius.
Incantation: "Sprinkled on the bones of the beast! Sharp tower, red crystal, steel ring. Move and become the wind, stop and become the calm. The sound of warring spears fills the empty castle!"
Reiatsu Cost: 35

Spell: #73 Sōren Sōkatsui (Twin Lotus Blue Fire Crash Down)
Effect: Essentially a doubled version of #33, this spell fires two shots of blue fire with greater potency than the single-shot variety, and with a higher range then the original.
Incantation: "Ye lord! Mask of blood and flesh, all creation, flutter of wings, ye who bares the name of Man! On the wall of blue flame, inscribe a twin lotus. In the abyss of conflagration, wait at the far heavens."
Reiatsu Cost: 40

Spell: #88 Hiryugekizokushintenraiho (Flying Dragon-Striking Heaven-Shaking Thunder Cannon)
Effect: A large named spell with an even bigger attack, this spell lets loose gigantic blast of spiritual energy resulting in a truly enormous explosion, which is sure to blow away even one of the strongest of foes.
Incantation: "He whose wings cut across the cloud. Give me now the storm! Let lightning mix with sound and give it form! The dragon who shall destroy all! Fly, fly now through the heavens and let loose your fury!"
Reiatsu Cost: 45

Spell: #90 Kurohitsugi (Black Coffin)
Effect: This forms a box of black energy around a target, trapping him within with little hope of escape, which is then pierced by dozens of energy "spears", lacerating the one inside from head to toe, giving little chance of escape, let alone survival. This technique is one of the strongest Hado Spells.
Incantation: "Darkness Surround all, fill them with grief. Let none be shielded from fate, as all of humanity pierce his flesh. Some now, and show him his death!"
Reiatsu Cost: 50

Bakudo - Binding Arts
Bakudo uses typically non-lethal force to incapacitate an enemy, taking away their strength, limbs, and mobility in order to more easily crush an enemy. Because of this, Bakudo is typically combined with other attacks in order to take advantage of a binding. Binding arts require a focus that is not seen in other arts, typically needing patience and time to utilize. Binders will lay traps and attempt to disable an enemy before striking, waiting for the right opportunities in order to strike.

Spell: #1 Sai (Restrain)
Effect: A spell that releases a white force which Locks a target's arms in place behind their back, making them unable to use them. Can be broken if enough force is released.
Incantation: "Seal movement, breaking their defiling hold over all!"
Reiatsu Cost: 10

Spell: #4 Hainawa (Crawling Rope)
Effect: Forms an energy rope that lunges froth to entangle a target's arms. This technique has a longer casting time, however, is more effective in binding.
Incantation: "Surround immediately without hesitation, bonding them with their own reward! Let divine hold prevent their attack!"
Reiatsu Cost: 10

Spell: #9 Geki (Strike)
Effect: The user's hand is illuminated, and engulfs a target in red light, completely paralyzing their body for a short duration. This spell is does not require visual contact, however, is short-range.
Incantation: "Disintegrate, you black dog of Rondanini! Look upon yourself with horror and then claw out your own throat!"
Reiatsu Cost: 10

Spell: #30 Shitotsu Sansen (Beak Thrust Triple Flash) Effect:
A Bakudo which shoots three beams of light that pin the target to one place on a surface, slamming into his/her body in three places in a shape of a perfect triangle.
Incantation: "Let no man walk unhindered, striking upon the tree cores of man! Spirit, Body, Soul! Strike all now with impunity!"
Reiatsu Cost: 15

Spell: #39 Enkosen - Arc Shield
Effect: Summons a wall of condensed reiatsu to block opponents' attacks. This spell works well against magical attacks, up to Number 45 Kido, but is fragile against physical assault, taking few hits before shattering.
Incantation: "Bend my will into shape, placing my spirit as a mirror to my enemy! Take in foul curses and let me be blessed!"
Reiatsu Cost: 20

Spell: #58 Kakushitsuijaku (Summoning of the Tracking Sparrows)
Effect: Tracks and locates any spiritual force the user focuses on. To activate it, the user must draw a circle on the ground, cut into four parts with a specific character in each. The incantation animates the circle, causing various numbers to appear within until the specific set is found. To use this spell, the user must have felt the spiritual force beforehand in order to locate them.
Incantation: "Heart of the south, eye of the north, finger of the west, foot of the east, arrive with the wind and depart with the rain."
Reiatsu Cost: 30

Spell: #61 Rikujōkōrō (Six Bars of Light)
Effect: An advance Bakudo, it summons six thin, but wide, beams of light that slam into a target's midsection, holding them in place. Because they form surrounding an enemy, it is difficult to defend against, and are very difficult to break free from.
Incantation: "Carriage of Thunder. Bridge of a spinning wheel. With light, divide this into six!"
Reiatsu Cost: 35

Spell: #62 Hyapporankan (Hundred Steps Fence)
Effect: A rod formed of energy is thrown towards the target before it disintegrates into numerous short rods which are used to pin the target to the surroundings and render them immobile. Because the Spell scatters, if makes it very difficult to dodge.
Incantation: "Trap those who challenge the boundries, forcing them to feel the pain of a thousand needles piercing their skin!"
Reiatsu Cost: 35

Spell: #63 Sajo Sabaku (Locking Bondage Stripes) Effect:
This spell creates a straight jacket-like binding around the opponent's arms, using stripes of energy to seal their arms, similar to Sai and Hainawa. This spell, however, cannot be broken by normal physical force at all, requiring extremely abnormal force.
Incantation: "Seal all force, taking it and quelling it within darkness! Break all resistance without mercy, and sunder their strength!"
Reiatsu Cost: 35

Spell: #75 Gochūtekkan (Quintet of 1 kan Iron Pillars)
Effect: A spell that summons five incredibly tall and thick pillars to pin a target to the ground, slamming upon their legs, arm, and back. This spell prevents them from moving at all, crushing them under deadly force. Often used in conjunction with other spells.
Incantation: "Walls of ironsand, a priestly pagoda, glowing ironclad fireflies. Standing upright, silent to the end."
Reiatsu Cost: 40

Spell: #77 Tenteikūra (Heavenly Rickshaws in Silken Air )
Effect: Transmits messages to anyone within Soul Society. In addition to reciting the spell, the user must draw specific markings on their arms, which are animated by the spell to convey the messages. Hell butterflies are the typical deliverers of such messages.
Incantation: "Black and white net. Twenty-two bridges, sixty-six crowns and belts. Footprints, distant thunder, sharp peak, engulfing land, hidden in the night, sea of clouds, blue line. Form a circle and fly though the heavens."
Reiatsu Cost: 40

Spell: #99, Part 1. Kin (Seal)
Effect: Binds the arms of a target with spiritual fabric and iron shafts, preventing them from striking and weighing them down. This spell is merely the prologue to a combination of effects.
Incantation: This requires no incantation.
Reiatsu: 50

Spell: #99, Part 2. Bankin (Great Seal)
Effect: This spell uses a chain of binding to annihilate an enemy, and can only be used by a Bakudo Master, and must have #99 Part 1 already in effect. This spell covers a target from head to toe with spiritual fabric which disables all movement (Hokyoku Shiryū: Halting Fabric ), stabs them with numerous metal blades (Nikyoku: Hyakurensan: Hundred linked bolts), and then smashes them with an immense metal cube, crushing their body as well as their Spiritual Pressure. (Shūkyoku: Bankin Taihō: Great seal of 10,000 forbiddings).
Incantation: This spell uses musical notes to perform, a unique chant which summons forbidden power. First song: May be used one turn after Kin Second song: May be used 1 turn after First Song. Final song: May be used two turns after the Second Song
Reiatsu: 50

Chido - Healing Arts
Chido is possibly the most difficult of the three Demon arts to learn, due to it's complexity in it's spells. Rather then simply holding an enemy or blowing something up, Chido uses more refined techniques which require more precision then any other. One wrong motion in healing can kill a person. Chido is typically defensive in nature, however, can be used as a weapon as well. Because of Healing's very nature, Healers can be valuable on the battlefield, whether to simply restore a wound or give enemies their own.

Spell: #7 Itamikai (Pain Release)
Effect: This Chido Spell may only be used on a willing patient, or already unconsious person. The Caster transfers spiritual particles within the body, transferring them along the nervous system and turning off all pain receptors. This spell is useful for performing a surgery or difficult task while in pain.
Incantation: "Cut the senses"
Reiatsu Cost: 10

Spell: #15 Ihira (Healing Palm)
Effect: The basic Chido spell, this technique allows the user to transfer Reiatsu into a green aura which causing skin and bone to mend, removing injury from an ally. The greater the wound, the longer the spell must take to be completed. This spell removes minor wounds with ease, but requires longer duration for greater wounds.
Incantation: Requires no Incantation, but rather, constant concentration.
Reiatsu Cost: 10

Spell: #24 Hanasu (Divide)
Effect: A Chido spell used to get through human skin, muscle, and bone, it is much as a scalpel is to a surgeon. The spell generates Reiatsu around the hands, giving them a thin blade-like quality, allowing them to easily cut human flesh. This can also be used as a weapon of sorts, a supplementer of hand-to-hand combat.
Incantation: "Slice through all opposition, leaving no edge. Let hand break through body, and blade pierce flesh!"
Reiatsu Cost: 15

Spell: #32 Hakutate (White Shield)
Effect: Creates a silver glowing barrier in front of the user, deflecting lesser projectiles and repelling melee attacks. This shield can defend against lower level Kidos, however, is easily broken by higher levels. This shield may float in front of the user or be grasped by hand.
Incantation: "Light shall show me the way, as the white sky gives me protection. Guard my form!
Reiatsu Cost: 20

Spell: #48 Awai (Pale)
Effect: This spell is unique in it casts the appearance of death upon a user, making them appear as a corpse to all those around. In reality, the user is actually in a deep undetectable coma, in which they are able to sense their surroundings. This Coma may be broken at any time, from 5 seconds after usage to years. This spell, however, does not shield the user from any damage during the coma.
Incantation: None, as it would become obvious to those watching if they were saying an incantation before dying.
Reiatsu Cost: 25

Spell: #56 Reiki (Aura)
Effect: This spell casts a beneficial aura around the target, eases their weariness and allowing them to ignore physical weight around them. This spell does not actually heal, but alleviates any suffering, and gives a fighter the will to go on even when crippled.
Incantation: "Curse all restraints, alleviates all fear! Cure all insanity and leave only resolve, brave any wound!
Reiatsu Cost: 30

Spell: #71 Rokutenchi (Six point Heal)
Effect: This spell is a much more advance form of healing, as it is much more complicated and requires severe control of spiritual particles to use. Normally, when healing, the user focuses upon a certain point on the body and allows the healing to transfer from there. This spell, however, uses six entry points for the healing spell to enter from, focusing on the entire body at once. This is capable of healing standard wounds instantly, and major ones in a lesser one.
Incantation: The user speaks only a chant, indescribable by normal words.
Reiatsu Cost: 40

Spell: #83 Shin-Shouheki (True Barrier)
Effect: This spell creates a barrier generated not only from the user's Reiatsu, but directly from their core, releasing a powerful half sphere in a 10 yard radius, a shimmering white barrier that is capable of defending against up to 90 Level Kido Spells and even Bankai Level attacks due to the fact that the technique is powered by the user's own resolve.
Incantation: "Guard my wish, let no devils enter. Destroy all who oppose, defend against all force! Let none save my soul be the key to this door! Shield my blood and body!"
Reiatsu Cost: 45

Re: Kido Rules and Information

Learning Kido Spells

A Shinigami may learn up to Five Kido Spells per Kido level. (Therefore, a Soul Reaper with Lv.3 Kido may have a total of 15 Kido Spells.) These spells are limited by the level of power each Shinigami has. Lv.1 Kido allows spells 1-20, Lv.2 21-40, Lv.4 41-60, Lv.6 61-80, Lv.8 81-99. A Shinigami has no restrictions on which type of spells he has, however, their Squads may have them focus on certain types, and Shinigami who have Mastered Kido typically have one division focused on, so many of his spells receive the Reiatsu discount.

Creating New Kido Spells

Shinigami may add to the existing list new spells for all to use, allowing them more then simply the generic spells. Each new spell should match it's Number. Spells should not share a number with any existing spell under the same Art if possible, as it leads to confusion. Spells should match their number in power. Therefore, a Lv.15 Spell would have minor power, while a Level 75 would likely to have quite a push behind it. Spells should also match their said art. That is, a Hado Spell should not heal, a Healing Spell not bind, and a Binding spell not blow up the entire world.

When creating new spells, you should use the following template.

Code:
[b]Spell:[/b] Insert the number and Japanese Name here (Insert translation here)
Effect: Insert description of spell and power
Incantation: Insert the chanted words to empower the spell
Reiatsu: Lv.1-20 cost 10 Reiatsu, 21-30 15, 31-40 20, 41-50 25, 51-60 30, 61-70 35, 71-80 40, 81-90 45, and Spells 91-99 50 Reiatsu.
Type: Hado, Chido, or Bakudo

Using Spells in battle

Spells are quite simple. You may only, unless combination casting, use one spell per turn. The moment you use the spell, whether fail or success, you pay its cost. If chanting the spell's incantation and decide not to use the spell, you do not pay the cost. Spells effects are typically instantaneous, and last for a short time, unless indicated otherwise. The power of a spell is determined by a number. Therefore, launching a Lv.20 Hado Spell against a Level 80 is suicide. An incantation allows a spell to be launched at full strength. If skipping the incantation with the Incantation-less ability, the spell will have half power, however, will happen immediately, making it far more powerful. The stronger the caster of a spell, the stronger the spell is. That is why a Kido Master's Shakkuho Spell can easily beat a Lv.2's. Only Shinigami are able to identify a spell's true effects before it happens, as the other races do not study Kido. Unless the opponent has seen the spell before, they should not be able to predict a spell's true power unless its obvious. (For example, "Shot of Red Fire is pretty easy to imagine.)

Forbidden Spells
Some Spells are typeless, or are deemed to have no number, or an usual number. These Spells are typically known as Forbidden because of their power. Forbidden Spells when only be available to Masters of their crafts(Therefore, only a Hado Master able to use a Forbidden Hado Spell.) Forbidden Spells will vary in power, and because of this, they will only be created by Admins, and cannot be created by Mod or user.(Unless special circumstances apply.)
